Snowscape
Description:

Back country skiing is not at all like going to a ski resort. Yours are the only tracks around. It feels like you may have been the first person to have ever seen some of the magnificent vistas.
Notes:
This painting was done in oil paint on board. There are many subtle changes in light and colour on the snow covered slopes and cliffs which was the essence of the image and effect. I made the ski tracks crooked to convey that the skier was probably tired after climbing for many hours, but was pushing on, relishing the scenes and looking forward to camping for the night and an epic deep powder decent the next day.
Location:
This scene is near the border of Alberta in the south-eastern corner of British Columbia.
